Why Flagstaff Homeowners Choose Quartz

Quartz has become the most popular countertop material in Flagstaff kitchens for good reason — it handles daily use without demanding much back. No sealing. No worrying about acidic foods. Clean it with soap and water.

The engineered stone process means quartz comes in consistent colors and patterns that granite simply cannot match — from solid whites and greys to dramatic veined looks that rival Calacatta marble at a fraction of the maintenance cost.

Quartz Countertop FAQ — Flagstaff, AZ

Is quartz a good countertop choice for Flagstaff, AZ?

Yes — quartz is one of the best choices for Flagstaff kitchens. It's non-porous so it doesn't absorb moisture or bacteria, it doesn't require annual sealing like granite, and it handles Flagstaff's climate swings without cracking. The only limitation is UV exposure — quartz can fade over time in direct sunlight, so it's not recommended for outdoor kitchens.

How is quartz different from granite?

Quartz is engineered stone (90–95% crushed quartz + resin binders), while granite is 100% natural stone. Quartz is non-porous and needs no sealing; granite is slightly porous and should be sealed annually. Quartz has consistent color and pattern throughout a slab; granite has natural variation that makes every piece unique. Both are durable and beautiful — the choice is usually personal preference and maintenance tolerance.

What quartz brands do you carry?

We stock quartz from MSI Surfaces, Arizona Tile, and select other premium distributors. MSI Q Premium Natural Quartz and Arizona Tile Calacatta and Statuario collections are consistently popular. Visit our showroom to see full slabs — online photos do not accurately represent how quartz looks in person, especially veining and movement.

Does quartz stain?

Quartz is highly stain-resistant thanks to its non-porous surface. Most everyday spills (coffee, wine, olive oil) wipe up with no trace. Prolonged exposure to strong chemicals (paint remover, drain cleaner) or very high heat can damage the resin binders. Use cutting boards and trivets for hot pots — standard kitchen practices that apply to all countertop materials.
